Independent
Modeling
Independent Modeling is the world’s top modeling
resource web site, and it is a free modeling career resource site which
services the world-wide modeling industry.
Although Independent Modeling recognizes modeling and talent agencies
as a continuing part of the legitimate modeling industry, the agency way
is no longer the only way. Independent Modeling, staying true to its branding,
emphasizes independent freelance modeling, which is modeling without being
dependent upon an agency, self-managing a modeling career, and professional
models finding and booking modeling jobs on their own without going through
an agency or being dependent upon an agency to book work.
Despite what the agencies and their mindless followers may claim, this
works. After all, an agency is a middleman, and going through one, or
being represented by one, is not the only way to have a career as a professional
model. The business reality is that an open market is superior to a closed
market, the closed market being limited.
Independent Modeling is the source of all the breakthroughs in the freelance
modeling movement in the past decade. It is easily the most influential
and effective modeling resource web site in the world.
Although Independent Modeling was inspired and influenced by the older
Florida Models regional modeling resource site, it became a superior resource
site within two years of launching. Ironically, things went full circle
when, in 2012, Independent Modeling took over Florida Models.
Florida
Models
Florida Models is the world’s first modeling resource
web site, founded in 1996, and it was based here in Florida, which is
the world epicenter of the independent, or freelance, talent movement.
Although Florida Models has always been about freelance modeling, and
continues to be, it also addresses agency modeling and modeling through
an agency, and it is not as independent-centric is Independent Modeling
is. Florida Models addresses and services the modeling industry in Florida,
which is in the southeastern United States.
Florida Models was founded by models Kitty Kavey and Ken Horkavey, as
a way to publish information about modeling and the modeling industry,
and to connect professional models to jobs. The site had the first modeling
job board on the Internet; although relatively primitive compared to what
Independent Modeling is offering now, and by default Florida Models and
Tampa Bay Modeling, that first modeling job board was effective and popular.
Florida Modeling Jobs, coming full circle, is a marketing site which connects
models to all of those resources, free of charge.
Both Kitty and Ken were mentors to C. A. Passinault, who learned much
about what he would know about the industry from them in the late 90's.
C. A. Passinault is now one of the top modeling and talent experts in
the world, and is a pioneer in the independent talent movement.
Florida Models was taken over by Independent Modeling in 2012, and became
an Independent Modeling site, which is ironic because Florida Models inspired
Passinault to create Independent Modeling in the first place.
Tampa Bay Modeling
Tampa Bay Modeling was started by a group of professional
freelance models in October 2004, with the guidance and assistance of
Independent Modeling.
By 2006, Tampa Bay Modeling became an official Independent Modeling site.
Since its creation and launch in 2004, Tampa Bay Modeling was an online
proving ground for Independent Modeling, and some of the latest tactics
and tools were experimented with on the site. With a few years, however,
work on Independent Modeling shifted completely to Tampa Bay Modeling,
and Independent Modeling became dormant.
In January, 2013, Independent Modeling brought its new Athena Class site
online, and the emphasis and the work once again shifted, this time from
Tampa Bay Modeling back to Independent Modeling.
Tampa Bay Modeling, an Independent Modeling site just like sister site
Florida Models, addresses and services the Tampa Bay modeling industry.
It is a regional modeling resource site.
Tampa
Shootouts
Tampa Shootouts is a modeling photography event business
administered by Aurora PhotoArts and Tampa Bay Modeling.
Development of Tampa Shootouts began in 1999, with photographer C. A.
Passinault doing shootout events with professional models and photographers.
C. A. Passinault continued doing modeling photography shootout events
in 2000, when he became a professional photographer. Full scale development
of the current Tampa Shootouts protocols and formats began in 2005, and
went into high gear in 2011. The first official Tampa Shootouts event,
an Athena shootout modeling photography event, was attempted in September
2011, and the second attempt in January 2012 was subsequently scrubbed
and put on hold because of security issues.
Additional research and development was ordered, and the Tampa Shootouts
program benefitted as the events were delayed an additional two years
and the program was further enhanced and refined.
The Tampa Shootouts program is scheduled to begin operations in 2014,
and will directly tie-in with first-party modeling job offers on Florida
Modeling Jobs. This means that the development of the Tampa Shootouts
program took 15 years of work and experience to perfect and refine, since
it began back in 1999. Tampa Shootouts is a critical component
of the business model of Aurora PhotoArts and Florida Modeling Jobs.
Due to the issues experienced back in the stalled start in 2011 and early
2012, the participation of unaffiliated photographers is no longer as
important, or as emphasized, as it originally was.
Most of the shootout events are used to evaluate professional models and
photographers for jobs, as well as to market shootout and workshop events
to prospective clients.
Some of the most recent shootout events are paying jobs for models others
in the industry.
All models who wish to be considered for first-party paying modeling jobs
directly offered by Florida Modeling Jobs are required to be evaluated
through a Tampa Shootouts event, as a working audition. Terms and limits
apply, please see the Tampa Shootouts web site for more information.
With Tampa Shootouts being used as a working audition for professional
models to be evaluated for our first-party modeling jobs here on Florida
Modeling Jobs, success is guaranteed; literally, as Tampa Shootouts is
a cornerstone of several businesses and ongoing projects.
Tampa
Workshops
Tampa Workshops is the workshop portion, and the programs,
of Tampa Shootouts. Although workshops will continue to be important,
their prominence is diminished with the advent of shootout events which
provide paying jobs for models and other professionals; these shootout
jobs will be marketed and covered through Tampa Shootouts.
Aurora
PhotoArts Tampa Bay Photography and Design
Aurora PhotoArts, which was established on June 10, 1994,
in Tampa as a support photography company for its sister companies, began
offering services to clients in 2000 in the Tampa Bay area.
Specializing in modeling portfolios and talent headshot photography since
2001, Aurora PhotoArts has been the best value in quality modeling and
talent photography, as well as professional design support services, in
the Tampa Bay market since 2002. It continues, and will continue, to specialize
in modeling and talent photography and design services in the Tampa Bay
market.
Aurora PhotoArts has always enjoyed, and commanded, a healthy lead over
competing photography and design business in the Tampa Bay area since
2001, but in 2012 a series of breakthroughs dramatically increased that
lead, and when everything is considered, no one else comes close; it is
almost an unintended market monopoly by default. Today, Aurora PhotoArts
is one of the top modeling and talent photography and design services
company in the world, and the top choice of professional models, actors,
and talent in the Tampa Bay area, as well as the rest of Florida.
Aurora PhotoArts is also the most advanced photography and design services

measures. It also has an aggressive secret research and development program
called Curtain Works, which is operated through the top secret
Phantom Shootouts events through Tampa Shootouts. No
